Excitement with economy
A system that can help protect pedestrians
Pre-Collision Assist detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or who could cross the vehicle’s path, and warns you of their presence. If you don’t respond, the system automatically applies the brakes. This technology is designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid the altogether, and functions at speeds up to 50 mph.

Easier reversing, as you can view what’s behind
Bollards, railings low walls… the optional rear view camera shows whatever’s behind you on a screen built into the centre console and activates automatically when you select reverse gear. The system also displays virtual guidelines, to help you park in the smallest of spaces. (only available with optional front and rear Parking Sensors or Active Park Assist).
Use less fuel with Auto Start-Stop
When you stop at traffic lights or your vehicle is idling in a queue, this technology can automatically switch off the engine (while still supplying power to essentials like the headlights, air-conditioning, radio and the Ford SYNC system). When you’re ready to move, just depress the clutch and select first gear as usual, or press the accelerator on an automatic, and the system restarts. Auto Start-Stop is particularly effective in town and city streets, where it can cut fuel consumption by up to 10% (urban cycle).
Better aerodynamics for improved economy
When you’re driving slowly, the Active Grille Shutter system keeps the grille vent open to cool the engine. When you pick up speed it can automatically close, improving aerodynamics and helping to save fuel. Over time, this technology can make a big difference.
A sophisticated and stylish Rotary Gear Shift Dial
In cars with an automatic transmission and an EcoBlue engine, the Rotary Gear Shift replaces the traditional gear lever. This puts you in control of an advanced new automatic transmission, with improved acceleration and super-smooth gear changes. It also gives the interior a much cleaner design and increases space in the cabin.
Choose which doors you want to lock and unlock
The Mondeo has remote control central door locking, which is more secure than ever. That’s because you can choose to open one individual door while the other doors stay securely locked until you activate a switch on the driver’s door. This same switch controls the locking and unlocking of all the vehicle’s doors.
Quicker, shorter emergency stops
When it senses an emergency stopping situation, Electronic Stability Control pre-charges the braking system, closing any air gap between brake pads and discs. Known as electronic brake prefill, this technology helps reduce the vehicle’s braking distance.
Extra power for emergency braking
Emergency Brake Assist helps your vehicle achieve maximum braking effectiveness in an emergency situation. It’s controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, which senses how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and automatically increases it, if necessary.
